Blog#4 Cross Cultural Learning

Blog#4 Cross Cultural Learning

This past week we have seen and experience a lot of things as a group in Buenos Aires.  For me the one thing that has really hit me the hardest is the poverty that can be seen on every corner of the city. I realize that there is poverty in the U.S. but for some reason I haven’t really paid much attention until now. It really sadness my heart to see whole families sleeping on the street without a place to call home.  The poverty I have seen in Buenos Aires these past few days has really made me realize how truly blessed I am to live where I live and have the possessions I have!  The past couple of nights our group has had a large amount of food left over after dinner.  With those left over meals we decided to give them to a family that sleeps near our hotel.  After seeing those young kids on the street it’s made me realize that I should never take anything for granted.

Another concept that I have had difficulty grasping is the language.  Simple conversations have been difficult for me these past few days.   For example ordering food, purchasing water, or navigating through buildings can be pretty difficult for me.  Form these experiences I have realized the need to learn how to speak Spanish badly!
